Joyce Akesson has an academic background and she lives currently in Sweden with her family.
She has studied the Semitic languages and has previously been a lecturer at Lund's University in Sweden. 

Beside her books of poetry, "Love's Thrilling Dimensions", "The Invitation" and "Majnun Leyla: Poems of Passion", she is the author of four books and several articles about foreign linguistics.
